KEEP YOUR GRASS HEALTHY AND LOOKING GREAT!
No two lawns are the same, so the care they receive shouldn’t be the same either. It’s all about knowing the particular conditions of your property, the variety of sod planted there, and determining a plan to address its unique needs.
The turf experts at Turf Connections, in consultation with turfgrass researchers at NC State University, have created a list of suggested maintenance practices depending on the variety of grass you’re caring for. These maintenance calendars go through each season and detail exactly how you can keep your lawn looking its best. Each calendar discusses the best practices for mowing, fertilizing, irrigation, weed control, insect control, thatch removal, and renovation. By adjusting these steps to fit the needs of your lawn, we’re confident you’ll be able to keep your grass green and healthy!
Do I still need to water through winter?
Yes through dry periods lasting longer than seven days.
Is it too late to plant Zoysia?
You can plant dormant warm season turf all winter in the transition zone. You will need to water the grass for the first couple of weeks not allowing freshly laid sod to dry out and allow regular irrigation during winter dry periods. You also want to roll turf to ensure good root to soil contact at planting. Same site prep as spring and summer. You can plant dormant turf through the winter.
When can we apply pre emergence?
Usually before Thanksgiving on established turf.
